Primary progressive ms and steroid treatment

An urgent care center is used for episodic care for patients with sudden medical conditions that require treatment usually within 24 hours. When experiencing a non-life threatening situation (but could lead to potentially harmful outcome if not treated when immediate attention is required), a patient can receive treatment at Primary Care Plus rather than seeking treatment at an emergency room. Patients should inform their Primary Care physician of such visit and consult him or her for follow up care. If the patient is in a life-threatening situation, please call 911 right away for care.

According to Healthline , multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic disease that affects the central nervous system. It is characterized by the slow breakdown of the protective layering of the nerve cells, called the myelin sheath. The condition is more common in women, and requires a lifetime of care and medication. In the case of primary progressive MS, there are no relapses or remissions, as the disease is progressive from the very start. It is also the most rare form of the condition, and affects only about 10 percent of people diagnosed with MS, Healthline reported.

In addition to adults, children and adolescents can be diagnosed with MS. The NMSS reports that between 2 and 5 percent of all MS patients noticed symptoms that started before they were 18 years old. Pediatric MS can expect to follow a similar course of progression to the adult form of the disease, with similar symptoms as well. However, some children experience additional symptoms, such as seizures and lethargy. Also, younger patients may find that their disease course progresses more slowly than it does in adults.
